Upward and Onward

Ralph Peterson and The Messenger Legacy

"Drummer Ralph Peterson, an esteemed alumni of The Jazz Messengers, marshals other Art Blakey acolytes for a run through originals contributed here by the bandleader, as well as his ensemble players.

“Forth And Back” is a minor-key, bopish call-and-response, Joanne Brackeen’s piano knitting the tune together under chunky fragments of horn-ensemble play and a tap-dancing hi-hat. “Sonora” summons a light and breezy Latin feel, while the title tune, “Onward And Upward,” swings hard.

On Jean Toussaint’s “Waltz For Etienne And Ebony,” the saxophonist pursues looping phrases that hint at a resolution listeners might suspect will never come."

Instructions For Robbing a Bank

Nacho Gonzalez

"Instructions For Robbing A Bank is my third solo album. It features jazz giants George Garzone, Omar Hakim and Hugo Fattoruso. It took me 10 years to put this project together, featuring over 50 artists. "

It is a journey from Montevideo to New York, going through  Jacmel and La Habana. Humor is the medicine to navigate an extremely noisy and distracted world. This music is written as improvised and improvised as written. There're respect but not obedience to the tradition. Particularly useful for those interested in robbing banks.

Albo Inaczej - Remixy

Alkopoligamia

"Albo Inaczej" is a pioneering project - the legends of Polish songs perform iconic rap lyrics to new music composed especially for this occasion. The whole thing is set in jazz, smoky, swinging climates. Can you imagine your favorite rap song performed by a 16-member big band? Or in other words - can you imagine your favorite singer from a few decades ago, whom your parents still listened to, singing the text of your favorite rapper rapper? All this can be found on the CD of the project "Albo Inaczej".
